Census Bureau (2001, September). Home Computers and Internet Use in the United
States: August 2000. U.S. Department of Commerce, Economics and Statistics
Administration.

Using data obtained in August 2000, this report found that 54 million
households, or 51 percent had one or more computers, and 44 million
households, or 42 percent, had at least one member who used the Internet at
home. High-income households and married-couple households were more
likely to have computers or Internet access. White non-Hispanic children were

Hispanic children. Schools appear to level the playing field by giving computer
access to children who have none at home. Finally, more affluent and more
highly educated adults are more likely to have computers or use the Internet.

technology include alternative keyboard, auditory trainer or other amplification
system, head stick or pointer, scanner, touch screen, and mouth stick.
